The house is a two storey building entered at first floor level from an iroko deck accessed from a flight of steps. To exploit the views over the strand and to maximise natural daylight, the kitchen, atrium and living room are arranged enfilade at the upper level, east to west with 3.6 metre high ceilings. Both the living room and kitchen also borrow light from the top lit, double height atrium through the glazed pivot doors and high-level clerestory glazing. A zinc clad light box scoops light from the north elevation on to the carrara marble counter of the kitchen. A lift provides wheelchair accessibility to the first floor. All other accommodation is located on the ground floor with direct access to a raised iroko deck and the garden beyond. Canted projecting iroko windows act as tables to children’s bedrooms.
The landscape around the house has been planted with a variety of plants and trees including bamboo, laurel bay hedge and birch trees.
